The daily puzzle and how streaks work
Cascade Puzzle publishes three new puzzles every day at midnight UTC — one easy, one medium, one hard — and everyone in the world gets the same three. The tiers unlock in order: clear easy to open medium, clear medium to open hard. Completing any single tier is enough to keep your daily streak alive, and a streak breaks only if you play on no tier at all during a UTC day.
Three tiers, unlocked in order
Each day ships three separate boards of rising difficulty. You start on easy; clearing it unlocks medium, and clearing medium unlocks hard. The gate exists so the hard board never becomes someone's first experience of the game.
- Easy
- A generous move limit and a short solution. Most players clear it in well under a minute.
- Medium
- Usually requires one setup move and one deliberate cascade.
- Hard
- Typically has a single correct sequence. Expect to reset a few times — that is the intended experience, not a failure.
When the day changes
New puzzles appear at midnight UTC, not local midnight. If you are in the Americas the day turns over during your evening; in East Asia it turns over during your morning. The daily screen shows a live countdown to the next set.
What keeps a streak alive
Your streak counts consecutive UTC days on which you completed at least one tier. The rules are deliberately forgiving:
- Clearing easy alone banks the day. You do not need all three.
- Clearing all three does not advance the streak faster — a day is a day.
- The streak resets to zero only after a full UTC day with no tier completed.
- Your longest-ever streak is kept separately and is never lost, even when the current one breaks.
Progress is stored in your browser, so it is per-device and survives without an account — there is no sign-up anywhere in the game. Clearing site data clears your streak. You can also opt into a browser reminder from the completion screen if you want a nudge on days you have not played.
Sharing your result
After clearing a tier you can copy a spoiler-light result — the day number, tier, move limit, your time, and your streak — as an emoji grid, or post it directly. Clearing all three tiers unlocks a combined summary with a time for each.
Tracking progress over time
Your stats page keeps days played, tiers completed, current and longest streak, a best time per tier, and a 30-day activity grid. There are also twelve achievements, from clearing your first tier to a 30-day streak.
